Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

Please read this privacy policy carefully before using side quests.

Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the side quests app (hereby referred to as “Application”) for mobile devices that was created by Cem Kiray (hereby referred to as “Service Provider”) as a freemium service. This service is intended for use “AS IS”.

Information Collection and Use

To create and maintain Your account, the Application collects:

  • Your email address, name, and profile image, provided by Apple or Google when You sign in
  • Your device’s Internet Protocol (IP) address and user-agent (browser/device) information, stored with Your sign-in session
  • Onboarding answers You provide, such as Your birthdate, Your motivations, Your preferred quest categories, and a general location You describe
  • The quests You complete, including any optional notes You choose to write and attach to a completed quest
  • Quests You swap out or replace, and any thumbs-up/thumbs-down feedback You give after completing a quest, used to improve future quest recommendations
  • A push-notification identifier, if You enable notifications, used to deliver notifications to Your device
  • Your subscription status, if You choose to purchase side quests Pro

About Your location

If You allow it, the Application accesses Your device’s precise location in order to work out Your city or region. That precise location is resolved on Your device only. The Application never transmits or stores Your precise GPS coordinates. Only the resulting city-level description (for example, “Barcelona, Spain”) is sent to and stored on our servers, and is used to help personalize the quests suggested to You. You can also skip location access and type a location in yourself.

For a better experience, while using the Application, the Service Provider may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information. The information that the Service Provider request will be retained by them and used as described in this privacy policy, including to personalize the quests suggested to You and to communicate with You about Your account and Your progress.

Third Party Access

Please note that the Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policy about handling data. Below are the links to the Privacy Policy of the third-party service providers used by the Application:

  • PostHog: analytics, identifying You only by an internal account ID, never Your name or email
  • OneSignal: push notifications, identifying You only by an internal account ID
  • Expo: application framework and infrastructure
  • Cloudflare: network infrastructure and security, sees Your IP address as part of routing requests to our servers
  • RevenueCat: subscription management, identifying You only by an internal account ID
  • Sentry: error tracking on our backend servers
  • OpenRouter: generates Your personalized quests; receives an approximate age calculated from Your birthdate, the location description You provided, Your preferred quest categories, and the titles of quests You’ve recently completed or passed on, for this purpose
  • Google: if You choose to sign in with Google, which provides Us with the name, email, and profile image associated with Your Google account
  • Apple: if You choose to sign in with Apple, which provides Us with the name and email associated with Your Apple ID

The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:

  • as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
  • when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
  • with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.

Opt-Out Rights

You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where You live, You may have the right to request access to, correction of, or a copy of Your personal data, and to ask that it be deleted. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the Application, or by contacting the Service Provider at [email protected].

Data Retention Policy

You can delete Your account and Your data at any time directly in the Application, from the Profile tab (“Delete account”). Deleting Your account removes Your account, sessions, sign-in connections, quests, quest swaps, and journal entries. Quest feedback and historical subscription records are kept in a form no longer linked to Your account, for product-improvement and financial record-keeping purposes. Deleting Your account signs You out of OneSignal and RevenueCat on Your device, but any data those providers separately retain on their own servers remains subject to their respective privacy policies linked above.

If You’d rather not use the in-app option, You can also request deletion by contacting the Service Provider at [email protected], and they will respond in a reasonable time.

Children

The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.

The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case the Service Provider discovers that a child under 13 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact the Service Provider ([email protected]) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions.

Security

The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to the Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-08-12

Your Consent

By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.
